New Village Sign April 2007

Furneux Pelham has had the village sign repaired which is now back on the inside of the bend opposite the old Blacksmith's house.

This article is to help people follow the FURNEUX PELHAM VILLAGE WALK which is on permanent display outside the Brewery Tap.

The route is 8 miles long, but there is a short-cut back to the pub after 3 miles.

Furneux Pelham History Group

At the first meeting on Friday 8th September in St Mary’s Church a total of 20 villagers plus a representative of Braughing Field Walkers association attended, a further 10 villagers sent apologies. The meeting was to encourage the attendees to discover more about the past life of the village and explore common interests such as the buildings, past residents and the archaeology of pre-written history periods.

Arthur Mee's "Hertfordshire" describes it as follows: "Stocking Pelham. It has three good companions, a little church, a barn about twice as big, and the rectory still guarded by part of its old moat.
